Interview Folder
The folder is one of the most important accessories an interviewee can take to the interview. The folder should be clean and blemish free. Corners should be square not bent or “dog eared”. The ideal folder would be a hard cover folder, like vinyl or leather covered document holder. A cardboard folder will do if a hard cover folder is not available and try to coordinate folder colors to match clothing colors.
- The folder is used to organize interviewing materials and should include:
- a tablet of lined paper (top page)
- 1st third included 3 to 5 questions to ask the interviewing committee
- 2nd third include critical information related to the job qualifications as a memory aid during the interview
- final third to include space to write additional thoughts
- black ink pen
- copies of the resume (in case the interviewer does not have a copy)
- copies of the complete application (in case the interviewer does not have a copy)
- examples of projects (enough for each committee member and separated into separate folders for easy access
Keep the folder on hand at all times when conducting a job search and be sure the material in the folder is current and updated to reflect each job posting applied for.
