Accessing Emotional Intelligence: Getting to the Heart of Matters (mind)

Whether you're a top level manager, team leader, or parent, emotional intelligence is the critical element often overlooked when resolving difficulties and developing strong relationships. The techniques are crucial in both business and life, especially when you don't feel like the circumstances will get better. Using interactive games and exercises, you will improve your self-awareness and perception of choice, confidence and energy levels, empathy and effectiveness with others.

A Voyage Through Performance Management Tools (leadership)

Embark with the presenters on their journey to inform the audience about the rewards and constraints of various types of performance management tools. The staff members from one Maricopa department will describe their successes with the use of a 360° evaluation tool. Be prepared for role playing and games during this interactive quest!

Five Lotus Peace Meditation (body, mind, spirit)

Integration into, and harmony with the present moment in all its dimensions can contribute significantly to our effectiveness in the managerial role, as in our lives generally. From the Tibetan Buddhist tradition there arise many techniques for helping us to do this. One such method, the Five Lotus Peace Meditation, employs simple visualization and affirmations to achieve inner and outer peace in the now. Through the use of stories, brief excerpts from This Little Light of Mine: Remembering the Light Within, and a relaxation exercise this session will help you open a space and a desire to come home to a balanced life where you will hear your inner voice and dreams.

Tai Chi: Mind Body Medicine for the Millennium (body)

Mind/body spirit interventions employ a variety of techniques designed to facilitate the mind's capacity to affect bodily function and symptoms. Many of which have been well documented theoretical basis, and many yet to be explained scientifically. This session will discuss/introduce a form of Tai Chi (breath exercise) that includes an eclectic view and approach of teaching/practicing the fundamentals of ancient healing and natural health systems of Africentric, Indonesian, and Southern Chinese styles of the Gung Fu, to include forms, self defense exercises and breathing therapy.

Who Moved My Cheese? (leadership)

Change can be a blessing or a curse, depending on your perspective. The message of Who Moved My Cheese? is that everyone can come to see change as a blessing, if they understand the nature of their own cheese and the role it plays in their lives. This workshop offers strategies for preparing for change before it happens, dealing with change once it happens, and enjoying change as it happens.
