Advanced Clothing Construction
Advanced garment construction techniques, pattern alteration and fit and techniques used on specialty fabrics. May be repeated for a total of 12 credit hours with instructor permission. Prerequisites: TEC123 or permission of instructor.

1. Select appropriate fabric, interfacing, lining, notions and patterns for garments constructed in class. (I)
2. Use sewing tools and equipment appropriately during the construction process. (II)
3. Use correct pressing equipment and techniques during the construction process. (II)
4. Alter sewing to improve fit. (II)
5. Perfect grain line on fashion fabric and place pattern on fabric. (III)
6. Cut and mark fashion fabric and interfacing. (III)
7. Construct bound buttonholes using the leather and Vogue techniques. (III)
8. Construct a patch pocket. (III)
9. Construct collar, interface and tape label using the fusible technique. (III)
10. Set in sleeves and attach shoulder pads. (III)
11. Mark and hem garment sleeves and body. (III)
12. Select, cut, construct, and attach lining to garment. (III)
13. Match plaids or stripes in a garment. (IV)
14. Demonstrate seam finishes on specialty fabrics. (V)
15. Demonstrate construction techniques for specialty fabrics. (V)
16. Evaluate the construction and fit of class projects. (VI)
