Advanced Certified Nurse Assistant

Medical asepsis and sterile technique. Patient care technician techniques for blood glucose monitoring, handling blood specimens, nasal and oropharyngeal suctioning, and urinary catheterizations.

Prerequisites: Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) and permission of Continuing Education Program Director.

Demonstrate male and female urinary catheterization, and describe the process of catheter selection. (V)

List measures to reduce urinary tract infections in catheterized clients. (V)
