Survey of major African-American writers from Colonial period through the present; analysis of trends and movements within African-American literary history; analysis of literary types and selected works.

Identify characteristics of major movements and trends in African-American literature. (I-VI)

3.

Define literary terms used in analyzing poetry, fiction, drama, personal narratives or autobiography, essays, and oratory. (I-VI)
