General English speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills needed for use at work. Prerequisites: Appropriate ESL placement test score, or a grade of "C" or better in ESL010, or (ESL010AA, ESL010AB, and ESL010AC), or permission of instructor.

1. Follow and give directions and instructions appropriate for the workplace and the school setting. (I)
2. Use prepositions of location and describe locations of places or objects using prepositions of location. (I)
3. Request clarification and confirmation of verbal or written communication. (II)
4. Ask information questions and yes/no questions using correct word order and accurate intonation in English. (II)
5. Discuss hazards and safety procedures in the workplace and identify/describe them for a specific work setting. (III)
6. Discuss specific cross-cultural differences in work situations and describe appropriate coping behaviors. (IV)
7. Report on specific examples of work completed using oral form. (V)
8. Use the present perfect tense in English and report specific past work experiences using this tense. (V)
9. Identify and discuss work-related forms including, but not limited to, time cards, insurance forms, and W-4 forms and complete specific forms using appropriate English digits, phraseology and abbreviations. (VI)
10. Identify specific behaviors in socializing and demonstrate appropriate social behavior with instructors, employers, and peers. (VII)
