Layout and fabrication of specific piping systems including: calculating and laying out simple offsets. Calculating three- line, 45 degree equal and unequal-spread offsets, laying out and fabricating tank coils and fabricating mitered turns. Laying out ordinate and cutback lines. Laying out and fabricating 90 degree mitered turns, 45 degree laterals, true "wye" fittings and "dummy legs" and "trunions".
Prerequisites: Registered Apprentice status or permission of the apprenticeship coordinator.

 1. Determine piping offsets using triangular methods. (I) 2. Calculate simple offsets using prescribed methods and procedures. (I) 3. Calculate three-line, 45 degree, equal and unequal spread offsets around a vessel using step by step procedures and given information. (II) 4. Lay out tank coils. (III) 5. Lay out ordinate lines using a "wraparound" and specific resource material. (IV) 6. Lay out "Cutback Lines" using tables and formulas and specific resource material. (IV) 7. Determine appropriate number of segments in a 90 degree turn and calculate the number of degrees in each mitered cut of the turn. (V) 8. Calculate the proper "Center-to-Center" and "End Piece Length" of pipe using the appropriate formula. (V) 9. Lay out and fabricate a three piece 90 degree mitered turn. (V) 10. Lay out and fabricate a four piece and a five piece 90 degree mitered turn. (V) 11. Demonstrate proper step by step procedure for Reference Method of determining 45 degree lateral dimensions. (VI) 12. Demonstrate proper step by step procedure for Contour Marker Method for determining 45 degree lateral dimensions. (VI) 13. Layout a true "wye" fitting using either the contour marker method or the reference method applying the appropriate layout procedures.(VII) 14. Explain the function of and lay out a "Dummy Leg" and a "Trunion". (VIII)
