Basic Surgical Procedures
Responsibilities of surgical technician in pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative periods. Needles, sutures, and syringes. Procedures for instrument count. Proper positioning, prepping, and dressing procedures. Demonstration of complete set-up and procedure for exploratory laprotomy. Prerequisites: Admission to the Surgical Technology program.

15. Compare and contrast responsibilities and dual responsibilities of surgical technologist and circulator during the pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative periods. (XV)
16. Demonstrate sequential steps for an exploratory laparotomy during the pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative periods to include equipment set-up. (XVI)
