Nursing Process and Critical Thinking III |
|||
Focus on nursing concepts and theories to meet complex basic human needs across the life span based on the wellness/illness continuum. Emphasis on utilizing critical thinking skills to plan care through the nursing process for groups of clients with health problems related to selected physiological disorders. Includes professional nursing care of clients with maladaptive patterns of emotional and behavioral expression in the context of a mental health continuum. Prerequisites: NUR180, NUR184, NUR186, NUR188, HCC208, and HCR240AB. |

Employ critical thinking skills to make inferences and judgments from client data that describes actual and potential nursing problems that will meet physical, psychosocial, cultural and spiritual needs of clients. (I, II, III) |

Use the nursing process to care for clients across the life span who have physical and mental health problems. (II, III, IV, V) |

Develop nursing care plans that use established nursing diagnoses for clients with complex health problems based on the legal and ethical boundaries of nursing care. (II) |

Demonstrate caring behaviors with clients with physical and mental health problems in a variety of clinical settings. (II, III, IV, V) |

Demonstrate strategies for providing culturally sensitive care to clients across the wellness/illness continuum in both the acute care and community settings. ( II, III, IV, V) |

Apply knowledge of nutrition, fluid and electrolyte balance, oxygenation, and skin integrity to the care of clients with selected system disorders. (IV) |

Identify appropriate and holistic nursing care for clients with problems related to altered immune responses, cancers affecting major systems, ingestion, digestion, absorption, elimination, renal and urinary function and regulatory mechanisms. (IV) |
