Practicum: Educational Setting
Provides the opportunity to obtain practical experience in an educational delivery system. A minimum of 200 practicum hours over an eight-week period required to complete the practicum. Prerequisites: Completion of 28 credits of required courses in the Associate of Applied Science Speech-Language Pathology program and concurrent enrollment in SLP220.

1. Demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of students and classroom teachers and use language that is appropriate for age level and level of understanding. (I)
2. Use appropriate language(written and oral) in working with co- workers and supervisors. (I)
3. Practice effective time management skills including the completion of assigned tasks within designated time frames. (I)
4. Demonstrate professional/ethical conduct when working with students, teachers and others in the workplace. (I)
5. Respect and maintain student confidentiality. (I)
6. Provide assistance to the speech pathologist and other members of the educational team as outlined and instructed by a supervisor. (II)
7. Document lesson plans and protocols accurately and concisely for the supervisor. (II)
8. Document and report students' performance to the supervisor. (II)
9. Prepare and maintain students' charts and other records. (II)
10. Provide appropriate reports and documentation of assigned activities. (II)
11. Identify, describe and use a variety of screening tools and protocols . (II)
12. Assist in the development of appropriate lesson plans for assigned students based on their disorders and particular needs. (II)
13. Organize and maintain a facilitating environment for learning. (II)
14. Select, prepare and present materials for designated lesson plan/s that are motivating and age and culturally appropriate. (II)
15. Assist in the implementation of objectives and goals in a specified sequence for designated Individual Educational Plan/s(IEPs). (II)
16. Demonstrate the effective use of behavior management techniques in a variety of educational situations and settings. (II)
17. Provide feedback to educational team as to the accuracy of student responses. (II)
18. Provide reports to educational team regarding the student's over-all level of progress. (II)
19. Seek and use feedback from supervisor to modify and enhance own job performance. (II)
