Electrical currents for physical therapy, joint mobilization and management of orthopedic injuries. Safety stressed. Wound management techniques included. Prerequisites: PTA202 and PTA205, or permission of department. Prerequisites or Corequisites: PTA217 and PTA219, or permission of department.

2. Describe the theories of application of electrical currents for physical therapy. (II)
3. Describe the uses of electrical nerve tests and the diagnostic implications of nerve tests for specific patients in physical therapy. (III)
4. Describe the biophysical effects of transcutaneous electrical explain the clinical indications/contraindications for the use of TENS. (IV)
5. Apply TENS to selected patients in the physical therapy practice setting using safe techniques. (IV)
7. Describe the biophysical effects of low volt, high volt, and interferential electrical stimulation devices on human tissue and explain the clinical indications/contraindications for using same. (V)
