Professional Applications of Fitness Principles
Basic principles of fitness for the prospective fitness professional. Planning and teaching in a fitness program. Topics include exercise risks and safety, weight control, components of fitness, fitness assessment, and exercise programming.

1. Describe the benefits and the significance of participation in a lifetime fitness and wellness program. (I)
2. Identify and describe risk factors associated with an exercise program. (I)
3. Explain the physiology of weight loss and the effects of diet on basal metabolic rate. (II)
4. Determine a physiologically sound weight reduction and weight maintenance program for an individual. (II)
5. Define cardiovascular endurance, and aerobic versus anaerobic exercise. (III)
6. Assess and interpret cardiovascular endurance through the use of appropriate testing protocols. (III)
