1. Classify various types of positive contrast media including Barium Sulfate, Iodinated compounds and solutions, Nonionic contrast, Oily base solutions, and Negative contrast media. (I)
2. Explain the applications of the various types of contrast media. (I)
3. Describe the various characteristics of contrast media to include their advantages and disadvantages, chemical composition, atomic number, application and photon absorption qualities. (I)
4. Explain the potential hazards, contraindications and patient considerations when utilizing contrast media. (I)
5. State the preparation, dosages and methods of administering contrast media. (I)
6. Explain reaction theories, reactions and reaction types. (I)
7. Describe the medical/legal responsibilities of the technologist when administering a contrast medium. (I)
8. List the physical requirements and equipment for advanced fluoroscopy procedures and interventional studies. (II-XIV)
9. Describe advanced fluoroscopy procedures and interventional studies including: clinical indications, imaging systems, contrast media, patient care, visualized anatomy, potential hazards and safeguards. (II-XIV)
10. Explain the construction, types, applications, and limitations of needles, guides wires, and catheters utilized for interventional studies. ((XII-XIV)
11. List the physical requirements and equipment necessary for the operation of a special procedures suite. (XII)
12. Describe special procedures studies including: clinical indications, imaging systems, contrast media, patient care, visualized anatomy, potential hazards and safeguards. (XII-XIV)
