Institution Pharmacy Internship
Application of pharmacy technician knowledge and skills in the hospital and outpatient/Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) settings. Maintain patient medication files and prepare medication for unit stock distribution. Transcription of orders into prescription labels, calculation of tablets/volume amount for outpatient prescriptions. Assisting with preparation of parenteral solutions and special handling of intravenous antineoplastic agents. Application of ethical and legal aspects to pharmacy practice. Prerequisites: Typing proficiency of 35 WPM and PHT102, PHT/SGT/ULS106, PHT107, PHT108, and PHT109 or permission of Department or Division.

16.	Transcribe specific orders onto a prescription label utilizing lay terminology and equivalent household measurements. (XVI)
17.	Calculate total tablets or volume amount for outpatient prescriptions. (XVII)
18.	Participate in quality assurance projects including drug recalls and drug defect reporting. (XVIII)
19.	Calculate intravenous dosages accurately. (XIX)
20.	Apply legal and ethical aspects of pharmacy practice to the specialized area of intravenous solution preparation. (XX)
21.	Prepare intravenous labels accurately. (XXI)
22.	Utilize aseptic technique in the preparation of sterile products. (XXII)
23.	Assist with the preparation of a total parenteral nutrition solution. (XXIII)
