Arc Pipe Welding I
Selected pipe joints laid out, cut and welded in all positions with various types of electrodes. Introduction of specific techniques for pipe welding certification.
Prerequisites: WLD106 or approval of welding program coordinator.

1. Perform both welding processes, stick electrode and heliarc, on plate steel and large diameter pipe. (I)
2. Explain all sequence welding passes and the proper manipulation of each. (II)
3. Identify three electrode types and perform welds with these electrode types. (III)
4. Identify and demonstrate three basic weld positions. (IV)
5. Explain three thicknesses of pipe and proper set-up procedures prior to welding. (V)
6. Perform various weld test positions using the E6010 and E7018 electrodes. (VI)
7. Identify different types of pipe joints and their uses. (VII)
