Introductory knowledge and skills for systematic physical, psychosocial, nutritional and developmental nursing assessments for clients over life span. Prerequisites: BIO202 or equivalent, and FON241.

1. Collect a comprehensive and systematic health history, using appropriate interviewing skills. (II)
2. Demonstrate knowledge of physical, developmental, and psychological aspects of health maintenance and promotion and the relationship of those factors to health assessment. (III, IV, VI)
3. Acquire techniques of inspection, auscultation, percussion, and palpation. (III, IV, V, VI)
4. Perform systematic examinations and assessment in the laboratory setting. (III, IV, V, VI)
5. Identify normal and variations of normal findings in nursing assessments of clients. (VII)
6. Conduct a nutritional assessment on a healthy individual using theories, concepts, and principles from basic nutrition and related sciences to develop an appropriate plan for intervention. (V)
7. Examine data obtained from health histories and physical examinations to differentiate normal and variations of normal findings from deviations of normal. (VII)
8. Document findings from the health history and physical examination in a concise and organized manner. (VII)
