Describe recent historical overview of nursing and list specific changes of nursing accountability in the past ten years. (I)

2.

Describe current legal and ethical standards in fulfilling nursing responsibilities. (I)

3.

Compare/contrast and document personal professional development and state-of-the-art procedures and processes. (I-VI)

4.

Describe and apply techniques of therapeutic communication with patients, family, peers and staff according to current theories. (I)

5.

Describe and use current nursing process to formulate, implement and evalaute a basic plan of care to deliver safe nursing care for patients with critical-noncritical health problems. (II)

6.

Formulate, develop and prioritize nursing diagnosis according to prevailing requirements based on data collected from patient, records and significant others using scientific principle and Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. (II)

7.

Identify deviations from baseline conditions and implement a plan of care according to prevailing procedures. (II)

8.

Document a complete patient health assessment according to current professional standards. (II)

9.

Describe the pathophysiology of medical-surgical disorders and define the state-of-the-art management of these disorders including medication, treatment, nursing care and patient education. (III)

10.

Appraise and modify nursing to appropriately meet the needs of patients who have spiritual and/or cultural requirements according to current practices. (III)

11.

Identify the components of a nutritionally adequate diet according to current nutritional standards and modify for patients with selected medical-surgical disorders. (IV)

12.

Identify major therapeutic effects, routes of administration, side effects, dosage and nursing assessments of specific currently used medications. (V)

13.

Administer oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intradermal, nasogastric medication according to current practices. (V)

14.

Describe principles, rationale and perform nursing skills for current procedures to include, but not limited to tracheobronchial suctioning, chest tubes systems, intravenous medications, venipuncture techniques, and specimen collection. (VI)
