Preliteracy For ESL Students
Designed to aid non-English speakers who are also illiterate in their native language. Emphasis on the necessary preliteracy skills that ESL students need prior to learning how to read the English language. May be repeated for a total of 3 credit hours. Prerequisites: None.

3. Aurally identify consonant sounds. (I)

5. Aurally and visually comprehend concepts of sequence. (II)
6. Use left to right movement. (II)
7. Write the English alphabet when dictated. (II)
8. Write numbers 1-1,000 when dictated. (II)
9. Aurally identify shapes (circle, square, triangle). (III)
10. Identify a given set of pictures (clothing and things). (III)
11. Identify a given set of pictures (action verbs). (III)
12. Identify body parts (head, arms, legs, ect.). (III)
13. Identify and understand American currency (coins). (IV)
14. Aurally comprehend time (minutes and hours). (IV)
15. Follow aural directions. (IV)
16. Give short answers using prepositions. (IV)
17. Apply given set of words (Dolch list, survival words). (IV)
18. Apply series of words (simple sentences). (IV)
