Tile Setting III
Provides information on the special requirements of setting tile on nonflat and sophisticated structures. Provides experience in preparing and laying tile on these structures.
Prerequisites: Apprenticeship status, and TDR151.

1. Identify the tools to layout an arch and the terms used in describing an arch. (I)
2. Identify the recommended layout procedures for curved arches and describe how tile is set on a curved arch. (I)
3. Identify the tools required for floating a dome and describe how domesare prepared for tile work and how templates are constructed. (II)
4. Identify the procedures used to float true circular walls and describehow contoured walls are floated. (III)
5. Identify the recommended methods of floating circular columns and describe how circular columns are prepared for floating and how ceramic mosiac tile is applied tooa circular column. (III)
6. Identify the recommended procedure for laying out a swimming pool and describe how swimming tile is set and how coping tile is set on a residential pool. (IV)
7. Identify the recommended procedures for tiling a fountain and describehow a fountain is laid out for tile work. (IV)
8. Identify the different types of stairways and the recommended method of tiling a stairway and describe how tile is laid out on a stairway. (V)
9. Identify the recommended method of installing a Roman bath and describe how the basic structure is prepared for a tile-lined bath. (VI)
10. Demonstrate laying tile on nonflat surfaces of various structures including surface preparation and tile layout. (I-VI)
