Trade Mathematics and Safety
Review and application of mathematic operations for construction trades. Introduction to safety rules and practices for workers in construction trades.

1. Solve problems involving the addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and rounding off of decimal fractions. (I)
2. Discuss the advantages of scientific notation and complete operations with scientific notation. (I)
3. Solve problems involving the addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and finding the reciprocal of common fractions. (I)
4. Use basic algebraic skills to complete problems involving simple products, factoring, cancellation and operations with algebraic fraction. (I)
5. Solve problems involving the use of direct and inverse proportions. (I)
6. Read exponential notations and use them to complete negative integral exponents and formulas. (I)
7. Use basic geometry to complete problems involving triangles, the pythaorean theorem, bisecting lines, segments, and bisecting angles. (I)
8. Complete trigonometric tables and trigonometric functions of special angles. (I)
9. Solve problems involving right triangles. Apply the law of sines and cosines. (I)
10. Complete vector addition and vector subtraction problems. (I)
11. Demonstrate proper use of safety devices and equipment. (II)
12. Describe the areas of safety to be considered and safety regulations that apply to various work situations. (II)
13. Identify and describe the accident procedures for no injury, minor and severe injury accidents. (II)
14. Using sample work orders demonstrate procedures for a tailboard conference and explain the advantages of their use. (II)
15. Define terms commonly used when describing work in the construction industry. (II)
16. Demonstrate proper and safe use of tools and protective devices commonly used when working in the construction industry.
17. Demonstrate the proper procedures for receiving work clearances and discuss their use in a variety of situations. (II)
18. Describe equipment, maintenance, and safety procedures required to properly operate construction equipment. (II)
