Respiratory Care Fundamentals II
A technician level course. Topics include basic patient assessment, airway care, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and basic continuous mechanical ventilation. Prerequisites: RES100, RES120, and RES135.

1. Review existing datal, history and respiratory care orders and recommend and/or perform and/or review and/or assess additional bedside procedures, x-rays, laboratory tests, and pulmonary function tests. (I)
2. Collect additional clinical data by interview and examination of the patient. (II)
3. Initiate, conduct and modify cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques as indicated in an emergency setting. (III)
4. Perform basic airway maintenance and conduct therapeutic procedures toachieve maintenance of a patent airway. (IV)
5. Provide and maintain adequate ventilation and tissue oxygenation. (V)
6. Demonstrate the skills necessary to perform day to day interactions and communications in written, verbal, and nonverbal language with patients and other health care workers. (I, II, IV, V)
7. Demonstrate appropriate ethical, legal, and professional job behaviors. (I, II, III, IV, V)
8. Utilizing mathematical formulas, calculate appropriate measurements. (I, IV, V)
