Reading Fundamentals I
Designed to provide students with a review of prereading and word recognition skills. Includes predicting the contents of given reading selections, applying students' prior knowledge to their understanding of given reading selections, and using phonics, structural analysis, and the dictionary to unlock unfamiliar words in given reading selections. Prerequisites: Placement test scores, or permission of instructor.

4. Pronounce words containing given sound-symbol correspondences. (II)
5. Use structural analysis to clarify the meaning of words in sentences. (III)
6. Use the dictionary to: a)Locate given words, using the guide words. b) Choose the correct definition for a given word in context. c) Identify other forms of given words. d)Identify the parts of speech of given words. (IV)
