Psychiatric Nursing
Explores fundamental theories and concepts of psychiatric nursing. Principles of mental health and illness, methods of treatment, and nursing care of mentally ill. Interpersonal relationships and the function of communication in therapeutic interactions in planning and evaluation nursing care. Emphasis in clinical setting on establishment of a one-to-one nurse patient relationship and utilization of group process skills. Prerequisites: Acceptance into LPN to ADN program or permission of instructor.
