Orientation to Nursing Program
Introduces student to philosophy, purposes, objectives, and conceptual framework of District Nursing Program. Includes policies and procedures of Maricopa County Community College District Nursing Program. Emphasis on nursing process. Designed for transfer students, returning students, and Practical Nurses entering District Nursing Program. Prerequisites: Admission to the Nursing Program and a score of 100% in pharmacology dosage examination.

1. Describe the philosophy and purpose of the Phoenix College Nursing Program. (I)
2. Identify nine objectives of the Phoenix College Nursing Program. (I)
3. Write a nursing care plan that incorporates the concepts of Erikson, Piaget, and Maslow. (I)
4. Follow the policies of Maricopa County Community College District's Nursing Programs while in the Phoenix College Nursing Program. (II)
5. Write a nursing care plan which includes: a) An assessment of the patient using data obtained through interview, chart, nursing reports, physical examination; b) A nursing diagnosis to identify the patient's problem and its cause; c) Expected patient outcomes; d) Nursing actions to minimize the patient's problem; e) An evaluation of the patient's response to nursing intervention. (III)
