Electrical Standards Low Voltage

Electrical hazards of low voltage installations and special equipment. Application of appropriate occupational safety and health standards regarding control hazards and safety and health work practices. Electrical standards include 29 CFR 1910, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) general industry regulations, and OSHA construction regulations from 29 CFR 1926.

Prerequisites: OSH105, or GTC/FAC/OSH/MIT106, or OSH110, or OSH111.

Electrical Standards Low Voltage

 

1.         Evaluate the most common hazards associated with electrical systems. (I, V)

2.         Identify and interpret applicable OSHA and NFPA 70E standards and requirements for electrical installations and hazardous locations. (II, III)

3.         Recommend abatement methods for these hazards and violations of these standards. (II, III)

4.         Develop an electrical safety program specific to industry that includes the OSHA electrical and NFPA standards. (III, IV)

5.         Develop and present work practices and training that effectively presents OSHA electrical and NFPA standards. (IV)
