Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation II
Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Didactic and psychomotor skill training. Includes endotracheal intubation, defibrillation, synchronized cardioversion, arrhythmia recognition, cardiovascular pharmacology, adult and newborn resuscitation and performance in a code situation. Required for American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support provider skills validation and retraining.
Prerequisites: RES109 or health care provider CPR card.

1. Perform basic life support for health care provider based on Basic Life Support (BLS) Algorithm. (I)
2. Demonstrate relief of foreign body airway obstruction. (II)
3. Demonstrate the procedures of adult and infant intubation. (III)
4. Apply nasal cannula and simple oxygen and venturi masks. (IV)
5. Ventilate a patients lungs using mouth-to-mask technique and bag-valve devices. (IV)
6. Perform nasal and oropharyngeal suction techniques. (IV)
7. Demonstrate the use of advanced airways and verify correct tube placement with exam and device. (V)
8. Perform primary-secondary survey approach to emergency cardiovascular care emergencies. (V)
9. Identify lethal arrhythmias displayed on a static electrocardiogram (ECG) or oscilloscope. (V)
10. Treat a patient with lethal arrhythmias based on appropriate treatment algorithm. (V)
11. Perform automatic external defibrillation as part of the resuscitation of an adult and child. (VI)
12. Demonstrate the procedures of defibrillation and synchronized cardioversion. (VI)
13. Identify the actions, contraindications, side effects, uses and dosages of advanced cardiovascular life support drugs. (VII)
14. Describe the prehospital and initial in hospital care for the suspected stroke patient. (VIII)
15. Manage a pediatric patient with acute cardiovascular problems based on appropriate treatment algorithm. (IX)
16. Manage a newborn with cardio-respiratory depression. (X)
