Continuation
of role of the practical nurse as manager of care, provider of care, and
member of the profession. Includes concepts and skills required of the
practical nurse to function asa member of the
health care team. Introduces concepts of management including delegation.
Focus on nursing concepts and theories to meet basic human needs across the
life span based on the wellness/illness continuum. Integrates concepts of
anatomy, physiology, microbiology, pathophysiology,
and clinical nutrition to care of clients across the lifespan. Emphasis on
nursing care related to pediatric and adult clients with selected alterations
in health. Introduction to care of the well childbearing client and
childbearing family. Focus on the role of practical nurse in providing care
through interventions consistent with established nursing care plans.
Emphasis on the utilization of critical thinking processes related to nursing
care of clients in acute care and community settings. Prerequisites: NUR161PN. |
