Selected Physical Therapy Modalities
Stages of inflammation responses and tissue repair. Theories on pain. Guidelines for patient positioning and safety. Principles and application of thermal agents. Application and documentation of superficial heat and cold, ultrasound, electromagnetic radiation, massage, hydrotherapy, light, intermittent venous compression, and traction. Indications and contraindications for treatment methods. Research in physical therapy. Prerequisites: Admission to the Physical Therapist Assisting Program, or permission of the department.
