Heartsaver First Aid, CPR and AED
First responder preparation in the provision of first aid and basic life support (BLS) for workplace emergencies. General principles of providing first aid, adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), relief of foreign body airway obstruction and use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).
Prerequisites: None.
Course Note: Includes all standards for American Heart Association Heartsaver First Aid course card.

1. Manage medical and injury emergencies in the workplace. (I, IV)
2. Perform one rescuer adult CPR. (II, IV)
3. Manage conscious and unconscious adult airway obstruction. (II, IV)
4. Perform rescue breathing using mouth-to-mouth ventilation and mouth-to-barrier device ventilation. (II, IV)
5. Perform automatic, external defibrillation as part of the resuscitation of the adult in cardiac arrest. (III, IV)
6. Successfully complete American Heart Association Heartsaver First Aid skill evaluation and written examination. (V)
