Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) top four priority construction hazards. Includes above ground, below ground, struck-by, and electrical hazards. Provisions and implementation of OSHA guidelines to reduce workplace fatalities. Rights and responsibilities under the OSHA Act. Appeals process, record keeping, and voluntary protection programs. OSHA' s construction and general industry standards. Overview of frequently reference standards.

2. Describe common violations of OSHA standards and the appropriate abatement actions. (I)
3. Describe fire prevention and abatement procedures as prescribed by OSHA. (II)
4. Describe life saving measures/abatement procedures, as prescribed by OSHA, including adherence to fall prevention protocols and the use of personal protective equipment to prevent construction hazards. (III)
5. Describe safe and proper usage of ladders and scaffolds. (IV)
6. Define key hazards and safe and proper use of barriers and barricades while trenching and excavating. (V)
7. Evaluate electrical safety measures, including correct prioritization, when performing lockout and tagout procedures. (VI)
8. Explain safe and proper hand and power tool handling when performing welding, torch-cutting, brazing, and machine guarding procedures. (VII)
9. Evaluate material and chemical handling, storage, use and disposal. (VIII)
