Heartsaver Automated External Defibrillator
Basic life support (BLS) measures in cardiopulmonary emergencies in the workplace. Recognition of major signs of emergencies in adults, chain of survival, adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), relief of foreign body airway obstruction and use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).
Prerequisites: None.
Course Note: Successful completion of the course content meets requirements for an American Heart Association (AHA) Heartsaver AED card.

2. Identify the signs of four major emergencies in adults. (II)
3. Perform one rescuer adult CPR. (III)
4. Manage conscious and unconscious adult airway obstruction. (III)
5. Perform rescue breathing using mouth-to-mouth ventilation and mouth-to-barrier device ventilation. (III)
6. Perform automatic, external defibrillation as part of the resuscitation of the adult in cardiac arrest. (IV)
7. Complete AHA Heartsaver AED BLS skill evaluation and written examination. (V)
