Nurse Assisting
Role of the nursing assistant for clients across the wellness/illness continuum within the nurse assisting scope of practice. Introduction to problem solving process specific to meeting the basic and holistic needs of clients. Professional communication skills essential for the nursing assistant. Nursing interventions to ensure the needs and safety of the client. Specific types of diseases, conditions and alterations in behavior of the client. Principles of nutrition and fluid balance. Special needs of the elder client in the acute and long-term care settings. Basic emergency care skills and procedures. Prerequisites: None. Corequisites: [HCC130 or (HCC130AA, HCC130AB, HCC130AC, HCC130AD, HCC130AE, and HCC130AF)], and HCC145AA, or equivalent.
