Speech-Language Pathology Practicum
Practical experience in conducting speech-language therapy. Provides opportunities to create lesson plans, implement therapy, record client performance and maintain appropriate documentation for a variety of speech-language disorders in a variety of therapeutic environments. A minimum of 150 hours in a therapeutic environment required.
Prerequisites: SLP212 and SLP214.
Prerequisites or Corequisites: SLP230 and permission of instructor.

1. Demonstrate professional and appropriate interpersonal and communication skills when working with clients, family members and other caregivers. (I)
2. Under the supervision of the speech-language pathologist, develop the skills necessary to effectively use screening instruments, implement treatment protocols, and give and receive feedback in a professional manner. (II)
3. Under the supervision of the speech-language pathologist, accurately administer screening instruments and report their results in a professional manner. (III)
4. Report to the speech-language pathologist other clinically relevant information observed in the screening process. (III)
5. Under the supervision of the speech-language pathologist, prepare for and implement treatment protocol/s and provide appropriate and professional feedback about treatment sessions to clients, family members and the speech- language pathologist. (IV)
6. Use techniques and procedures necessary to prepare and maintain clients' charts and records according to professional and clinical standards. (V)
7. Review and practice the standards of ethical behavior and maintaining confidentiality. (VI)
8. Use appropriate procedures for the health and safety of clients according to employer's standards and guidelines and state regulations. (VI)
