Overview of telecommunications systems that include both Central Office based and premised based platforms. Switching and service components of RBOC and Inter-exchange providers are examined. Characteristics, advantages, and disadvantages of various and architecture and design of switching infrastructures and components are discussed. Prerequisites: TLT102
