Practice basic procedures and patient interaction in a clinical setting. Introduction to Manual EKG, Computer EKG, Holter monitor, pacemakers, and treadmill. Prerequisites: HCE140, or permission of program coordinator.

HCE141   19996-99999	Practicum: Basic Cardiovascular Skills

1.	Observe rules and regulations of the hospital and the cardiovascular department. (I)
2.	Demonstrate professional technician behavior. (II)
3.	Analyze work flow of area and offer help within limits of training. (III)
4.	Identify and describe responsibilities and time constraints of training staff. (IV)
5.	Evaluate and react to patient needs, both physical and mental. (V)
6.	Establish rapport with patient while maintaining professional conduct. (VI)
7.	Assist patient in moving with comfort and safety. (VII)
8.	Study independently during non-structured time utilizing equipment manuals, technical pamphlets, medical library, etc. (VIII)
9.	Explain reason for testing and testing process to patient. (IX)
10.	Perform a manual three, five and twelve lead EKG. (X)
11.	Perform a computer EKG. (X)
12.	Read procedure manuals and observe procedures used in specific cardiovascular tests. (X)
