Clinical Practicum II
Technical and professional aspects of diagnostic ultrasound in a hospital or clinical setting. Correct hospital procedures and policies. Observe, assist, and perform various technical, clerical, professional, patient care, and sonographic duties under strict supervision. Prerequisites: Admission into the Diagnostic Ultrasound Technology Program.

1. Observe and perform, in a professional matter, departmental, safety, emergency, and ethical protocols specified by the ultrasound department and hospital. (I)
2. Perform proper darkroom procedures to include loading and unloading cassettes, processing films, and filing of completed examination. (II)
3. Utilize proper patient care techniques before, during, and after the sonographic examination. (III)
4. Perform proper office procedures to include filing, scheduling, billing, report retrieval, and processing of patient. (IV)
5. Observe and assist the technologist in performing selected sonographicexaminations in the clinical setting. (V)
6. Under strict supervision, perform appropriate techniques for creating diagnostic images and identify and correct equipment malfunctions. (VI)
