Radiography
Practicum I |

Observation
of and familiarization with hospital procedures and environment.
Demonstration of appropriate patient care. Process examination requisitions
and other documentation related to the procedure. Darkroom procedures and
processing of films. Operation and maintenance of radiographic equipment.
Performance of basic radiographic procedures to include the chest, upper and
lower limb. Prerequisites: DMI101, DMI102, DMI103,
and DMI107, or permission of program director. |

Demonstrate proper office and darkroom procedures
including scheduling patients, originate patient exam requests, file and
locate films, process films, maintain screens and cassettes, stock films and
duplicate films. (I-IV) |

Describe the function of the various departments within
the hospital. (I) |

Utilize radiation protection devices available for routine
procedures. (II) |

Demonstrate appropriate ethical, legal and professional
job- related behavior. (II) |

State hospital and departmental policies and procedures.

Communicate appropriately with patients, physicians, and
other members of the health care team. (II-IV) |

Demonstrate proper patient care techniques. (III, IV) |

Perform basic radiographic equipment operation and

Under general supervision, perform radiographic
examinations to include the chest, upper and lower limb. (VI) |

Observe advanced, radiographic examinations to include the
abdomen, shoulder girdle, thoracic bones, portable and contrast media
procedures. (VII) |
