CLINICAL PRACTICUM III
Patient processing, nuclear medicine imaging procedures, imaging and counting equipment, instrumentation, radiopharmaceutical preparation and injection, and darkroom procedures under general supervision. Prepare radiopharmaceuticals under strict supervision. Perform specific quality assurance procedures. Safety guidelines. Prerequisites: DMI266 or permission of program director.

DMI272   19986-20035 CLINICAL PRACTICUM III
1. Under general supervision, perform nuclear medicine procedures to include the use of imaging and counting equipment and related instrumentation, radiopharmaceutical injection, and darkroom procedures. (I)
2. Under general supervision, perform specific quality assurance procedures. (II)
3. Under the strict supervision of a radiopharmacist, prepare radiopharmaceuticals to include milking generators, kit preparation, particle sizing, chromatography and separation techniques, biological controls, and labeling. (III)
4. Demonstrate standard patient care techniques. (IV)
5. Use standard radiation protection techniques. (V)
6. Demonstrate appropriate ethical, legal, and professional job- related behavior. (VI)
7. Communicate appropriately with patients, physicians, and other members of the health care team. (VII)
8. Comply with safety guidelines established by the appropriate regulatory agency. (VIII)
