Scientific and critical evaluation of work done in level IV dance technique allowing the student to engage in in-depth discussion of the theory and practice of dance. Prerequisites: None. Corequisites: DAN234, or DAN235, or DAN236.

1. Demonstrate a kinesthetic understanding of level IV dance technique both individually and collaboratively. (I, II, III, IV)
2. Examine movement in its basic elements both individually and collaboratively and demonstrate competence at level IV ability. (I, II, III, IV)
3. Analyze the basic elements of dance, space, time, and energy, with particular attention to rhythm and syncopation at level IV ability. (I, II, III, IV)
4. Demonstrate the theories of rotation and contraction and release at the level IV ability. (I, II)
5. Critique basic performance skills including musicality, phrasing, and projection at level IV ability. (IV, V)
