Prerequisites: EEG116 and EEG130, or permission of program director/coordinator. Corequisites: EEG201, EEG203, and EEG204.

Calibrate, measure, and adjust all EEG instruments in use in the laboratory. (III)

Document montages, parameters, clinical observations on the recording. (IV)

Intermediate EEG Skills I

 

I. Professional Laboratory Participation

A. Hospital/department rules and regulations

B. Basic paperwork requirements

C. Scheduling/prioritizing routine

D. Cleaning and stocking of laboratories

II. Electrode Measurement/Application

A. Measure within one centimeter using international 10-20 system

B. Scalp preparation and electrode application

C. Impedances below 5000 ohms

III. Calibration

A. Recognize and correct deviations in the following

1. Baselines

a. Mechanical

b. Electrical

2. Time axis

3. Damping

4. Sensitivity

B. Document and measure bio-cal

C. Perform end calibrations at conclusion of testing

1. Calibrate at all parameters recorded

2. Select appropriate input voltage

IV. Documentation

A. All montages correctly listed

B. Head stamps used and correctly diagrammed

C. Patient condition and position noted

1. Beginning of each montage

2. With any alteration

V. Acquiring Patient History
