Physical Conditioning and Wellness Instructor Training
Techniques for instructing students on developing physical fitness, including mental and physical conditioning. Basic elements of strength training, aerobic conditioning, flexibility, and nutrition covered. Classroom education and structured exercises emphasized. Prerequisites: Departmental Approval.

1. Prepare students to determine an individual's current health and physical fitness status prior to his or her beginning a conditioning program. (I)
2. Evaluate student ability to measure body fat. (I)
3. Explain the relationship of fitness to productivity, absenteeism, and employee performance. (II)
4. Create role-plays to enable students to identify and evaluate the role exercise plays in stress management. (II)
5. Assess student ability to perform basic self fitness tests. (II)
6. Contrast absolute strength and dynamic strength. (II)
7. Evaluate student ability to calculate "maximum heart rate" and "training heart rate". (II)
8. Organize role-plays to demonstrate the three phases of an exercise session. (II)
9. Plan and direct discussions to examine the relationship of exercise to preventative medicine. (II)
10. Explain a conditioning program using the basic concepts of diet and nutrition. (II)
11. Demonstrate the proper method of performing the flexibility movements. (III)
12. Create scenarios to enable students to perform the three types of flexibility movements. (III)
13. Demonstrate circuit training exercises. (IV)
14. Evaluate student ability to perform various fitness tests and circuit training exercises. (III, IV)
