Prerequisites: Appropriate English placement test score.

Describe the need to assess the audience and purpose for writing. (I)

Describe the concept of unity in writing and explain how a writer achieves it. (I)

Describe what is meant by coherence in writing and explain how a writer revises to ensure writing is coherent. (I)

4.

Write and revise paragraphs that use argumentation/persuasion to develop a topic sentence. (II)

5.

Describe the relationship between a paragraph topic sentence and the thesis of a multi-paragraph essay. (III)

6.

Write a unified, coherent multi-paragraph essay developed by argumentation/persuasion. (I-III)
