A participative course to prepare instructors in Basic Life Support (CPR) courses. Includes American Heart Association Standards and guidelines, teaching and testing skills, classroom discipline, counseling, and student/instructor evaluation methods. Successful completion qualifies individual to teach Basic Life Support (CPR) classes according to American Heart Association Standards. Prerequisites: Current certification as a Basic Advanced Life Support "C" level provider, EMT101 or HLR101, or equivalent. | |||

1. | List the components required in Basic Life Support (CPR) course according to standards set by the American Heart Association (I) |
2. | Define and describe the concepts of adult learning as they relate to students in learning life saving skills. (II-V) |
3. | Design a lecture outline to inclide identification of time, audio visual (AV) aides, and any student study guides. (II, IV, V) |
4. | Apply teaching principles in the design of lecture objectives, course syllabi, and lesson plans. (III) |
5. | Use effectively all AV and basic life support equipment. (II, IV, V) |
6. | Develop an evaluation tool. (VI) |
7. | Prepare appropriate documentation for the American Heart Association at the completion of a Basic Life Support (CPR) course. (VII) |
