Detention Facility Training
Daily procedures for managing the detention facility. Includes processing inmate needs and requests, completing departmental reports and managing "special needs" inmates. Operational procedures for all functional areas of the facility covered. Prerequisites: LET138.

2. Describe basic functional areas within the facility and their locations. (I)
3. Explain liability issues concerning use of force and weapons in the facility. (II)
4. Demonstrate proper handcuffing techniques. (II)
5. Differentiate between non-sentenced inmates and trustees with regards to work programs. (III)
6. Document required information in logbooks. (IV)
7. Use required forms for processing inmate needs and requests. (IV)
8. Identify and describe the principles of a report, types of reports and the individuals involved. (V)
9. Complete departmental reports. (V)
10. Explain visitation procedures. (VI)
11. Explain criteria for admittance of photographic or recording devices into the facility from an outside agency. (VI)
12. Operate all facility doors and manage housing functions. (VII)
13. Prepare inmates for court, visitation, sick call, release and recreation. (VII)
14. Provide for daily activities and needs of inmates. (VII)
15. Process routine inmate requests and clothing/linen exchanges. (VII)
16. Identify procedures for housing "Special management" inmates. (VII)
17. Identify factors that contribute to maintaining a calm and orderly environment. (VIII)
