Supervised application of principles of child growth and development in early childhood programs by assisting a classroom teacher in providing age-appropriate play and learning experiences in one of the following settings: a child care center, a preschool, a primary grade classroom or a special education program. Prerequisites: (CFS176 or ECH176) or permission of instructor. | |||

1. | Consult with faculty coordinator to determine a placement appropriate to career goals. |
2. | Apply early childhood development principles to work experience in the assigned program. |
3. | Communicate and interact effectively with young children, family members, and program personnel as appropriate. |
4. | Record and share a reflective journal of experiences and learning in the program on a regular basis with the faculty coordinator. |
5. | Visit two additional early childhood programs and compare and contrast these programs with the placement program. |
6. | Demonstrate an awareness of differences in early childhood program goals and types and evaluate for developmentally appropriate practices. |
