Advanced Life Support (ALS) Assist for Basic EMTs
Prepares the Basic-EMT(Emergency medical technician)to communicate, anticipate, and assist the advanced life support provider while rendering emergency care. Provides an overview of interpersonal communications, aseptic technique, advanced airway management, ventilation management, intravenous therapies, adjunct drug therapy equipment, and EKG/defibrillator and transcutaneous pacemaker.
Prerequisites: Current certification as basic EMT.

EMT130   19946-20086 Advanced Life Support (ALS) Assist for Basic EMTs
1. Identify and demonstrate positive interpersonal communication with the ALS (Advanced Life Support) provider to effect emergency care. (I)
2. Identify and demonstrate aspectic technique as required by use of ALS equipment and procedures. (II)
3. Given advanced airway management, identify and demonstrate procedures to assist the ALS provider to effect emergency care. (III)
4. Given ventilation management, identify and demonstrate procedures to assist the ALS provider to effect emergency care. (IV)
5. Given intravenous therapies, identify and demonstrate procedures to assist the ALS provider to effect emergency care. (V)
6. Given adjunct drug therapy equipment, identify and demonstrate procedures to assist the ALS provider to effect emergency care. (VI)
7. Given the EKG/Defibrilator and transcutaneous pacemaker, LifePak (LP) 5, LP10, or Zoll Monitoring defibrilator systmes, the Basic-EMT shall identify and demonstrate procedures to assist the ALS provider to effect emergency cardiac care. (VII)
