Community Oral Health
An examination of methods used to assess the oral health status of the community and to plan, implement, finance, and evaluate dental public health programs. Focus on community-based health promotion and disease prevention measures to improve the oral health of the population. Prerequisites: Admission to Dental Hygiene Program or permission of instructor.

8. Describe various preventive methods used in public programs including fluorides and fluoridation, sealants, and dental health education. (III)
9. Describe the important principles of community program planning. (IV)
10. Evaluate community dental health programs utilizing appropriate evaluation techniques including bio-statistics, graphing of data, surveying techniques, ensuring validity and reliability, and sound research design. (V)
11. Analyze data by using a computerized bio-statistical program. (V)
