Chairside Assisting
The history of dentistry, roles and responsibilities of the dental team members, chairside dental procedures; i.e., operatory preparation, patient preparation, assisting with diagnostic and operative procedures. Ethical and legal standards for the dental professionals. Prerequisites or Corequisites: DAE/DHE105.

1. Review the history of dentistry and identify the roles of key figures in dentistry. (I)
2. Describe the roles and responsibilities of the members of the dental health team. (II)
3. Describe the procedure for diagnosis and treatment planning. (III)
4. Describe the diagnosis adn treatment of the emergency patient; identify and prepare the armamentarium needed. (III)
5. Explain the use of local anesthesia and topical anesthesia and the contraindictions for each. (IV)
