Production Sewing
Production sewing from simple lockstitch machine operation to specialty machine operations. Quality control and rapid production of apparel items.

1. Install and thread needles, bobbins, bobbin winders, and loopers on anindustrial sewing machine. (I)
2. Explain and demonstrate the function of the treadle, how to turn the wheel and how to use kneelift to position work and release thread tension. (I)
3. Describe the proper position of back, elbows, arms and hands while seated at machine. (I)
4. Demonstrate how to clean and oil the machine. (I)
5. Demonstrate how to keep the work area clean and how to store supplies and unfinished work. (I)
6. Assemble loose pieces in preparation for sewing. (I)
7. Determine the width of seams and sew straight seams in joining edges. (I)
8. Demonstrate backstitching and circular stitching independently and in combination. (I)
9. Determine amount of work done in lot numbers. (I)
10. Demonstrate straight-line sewing when tacking, making seams, edges, and pin tucks. (II)
11. Demonstrate basic operations in making French piping, darts and hems. (II)
12. Demonstrate how to bias loop and make pockets. (II)
13. Demonstrate how to placket and make waistline bands. (II)
14. Demonstrate how to make facings, pleats, scallops, and gussets. (II)
15. Demonstrate how to make collars, sleeve cuffs, and tailored plackets. (II)
16. Demonstrate setting zippers, sleeves, and collars. (II)
17. Demonstrate how to coordinate assembling, aligning, and sewing work with as much speed as possible. (II)
18. Describe how to check work quality, including unraveling, cutting, andrepairing to meet standards. (II)
19. Apply use of safety rules at all times while working. (II)
20. Demonstrate making and setting sleeves on special machines. (III)
21. Demonstrate joining seams on special machines. (III)
22. Demonstrate operation of edge cutter machines for seaming, edging and cutting straight edges. (III)
