Clinical Practicum

Technical and professional aspects of vascular imaging in the clinical setting. Observations, assisting and performing of various technical clerical, professional and sonographic duties under close supervision.

Prerequisites: DMS210 and permission of Instructor.

Clinical Practicum

 

1.

Observe and perform departmental safety, emergency, and ethical protocols specified by a hospital or clinic. (I)

2.

Demonstrate professional patient care before, during, and after the vascular examination. (II)

3.

Perform sonographic duties including film handling, processing, filing, report retrieval, billing, patient processing, scheduling and patient history. (III)

4.

Observe and assist the sonographer in performing vascular examinations. (IV)

5.

Perform vascular examinations under close supervision of the supervising sonographer. (V)

6.

Demonstrate maintenance of equipment, correction of malfunctions and trouble-shooting problems to preserve professional imaging parameters. (VI)
